Name: MICRO BILLIARDS
Description: A simulation of the game of Billiards with Eight Ball rules, to play on four tables of increasing difficulty to test one’s precision in calculating bounces. Sink seven balls out of fifteen while at the same time trying to create hurdles for your computer opponent’s shots, and trying not to sink the Eight Ball! All this on a Java compatible mobile phone.
The game of “Billiards” has French origins and its history dates back as far as the fifteenth century, when in northern Europe the game of Croquet developed from the lawn to a wooden table covered in green baize – meant exactly to simulate a lawn.
In the eighteenth century, thanks to the Industrial Revolution, the table was improved until the present form was attained around 1850. The type of game too has also evolved, with two schools – English and American – having very distinct styles and rules. Yet whatever type of Billiards you play, the classical rules of physics govern the game.
For this reason, the Microforum Development Team is able to create a faithful simulation of this popular sport, using American Eight Ball rules. This type of game dates back to the beginning of the 20th Century and in all probability, whoever wrote the rules would have never imagined that one day the game could be played on a 176 X 208 Pixel screen.
